Why should you join?
We advocate for safer cycling: We work with the city and other area organizations to promote cycling safety. We were instrumental in having the 3 Foot ruling passed in the the City of Elkhart, making cycling safer and bringing awareness to cyclists using the roadways. We advocate for bike paths, bike lanes, and shared lanes connecting communities as well as bike racks close to popular destinations.
Bike Elkhart gives away free bike lights for better visibility in low light and nighttime riding for qualifying cyclists who may not own a car and whose bicycle is their primary form of transportation. Donations are accepted for bike lights specifically- $11 provides one set (front headlight and rear taillight). Please contact us for more information.
Bike Elkhart hosts the Quilt Gardens Bike Ride (formerly known as Bloom and Zoom) as a fundraiser for both our organization and United Cancer Services of Elkhart. It is our primary source of revenue and provides assistance for a great local organization. This charity ride offers several routes, provides SAG stops, and a finish line reception.
We also coordinate a few group rides throughout the summer. These rides are free, slow paced, and are usually only 6-10 miles in length. Often, we begin and end at a local restaurant such as Pete’s on Simonton Lake or Iechd Da Brewing downtown Elkhart.
Bike Elkhart is a grassroots 5013c organization.
